News10: Legislators seek $3M in legal aid for unaccompanied undocumented children

"SACRAMENTO - California state leaders announced legislation Thursday that would make it easier for unaccompanied undocumented minors who come to the U.S. from Central America to make their case to stay in this country.

Lawmakers are calling for $3 million in legal aid so kids can have representation in court, and they're also trying to clear up what they call a hole in the law that could have implications in states across the country.

It was a recent trip to Central America during the summer recess that Sen. Darrell Steinberg said led him to look deeper into the problem of unaccompanied minors crossing the border into the U.S."
