SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted 51-50 today to authorize a vote to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010:
“Congress is playing a dangerous game with Americans’ healthcare. Under every Republican plan to repeal Obamacare, millions will lose insurance and the cost of healthcare will go up. No state has done more than California to expand healthcare, and no state’s residents have more to lose.
“The California Senate has said with the passage of Senate Bill 562 that healthcare should be a right for every Californian, and I look forward to continuing the debate in the Assembly.
"California will keep pushing to increase healthcare for all instead of tax cuts to the wealthy, higher costs for the middle class and gutting coverage for working families. Even if Congress turns its back on Americans’ health and safety, California will not.”
