SACRAMENTO, CA — The California Senate today passed Senate Resolution 7 authored by Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) unanimously urging the government of Mexico to support further dialogue between the international community and human rights organizations in light of the disappearance and deaths of the forty-three students in Iguala, Mexico.

SACRAMENTO, CA —Senators Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) and Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) today introduced Senate Constitutional Amendment 1 (SCA) to allow voters to revisit the University of California’s concentrated power and improve transparency by allowing the legislature and public to provide substantive input on the functions of UC system. The proposal would place the issue before voters on the November 2016 ballot.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) introduced SB14, a bill that would grant the same protections for child victims of sexual abuse in civil court as those that exist in criminal court, aligning penal and civil code sections and ensuring that past sexual history isn’t considered against a victim.

The bill continues the Senator’s efforts to address the exclusion of undocumented Californians from the state’s health care exchange.

The announcement comes as the Senator returns from Washington D.C. where he met at the White House with immigration advocates to discuss President Barack Obama’s Immigration Accountability Executive Action.
