SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Member Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) chaired an oversight hearing of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee on the affordability of college textbooks.  The hearing focused on the significant rise in textbook costs for students as well as strategies to help control the costs.

AB1564 will deter nonprofits from failing to report incidents of child sexual abuse and strengthens current mandated reporting laws

Sacramento - In an effort to protect children from sexual abuse, today Assembly Member Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) introduced AB 1564, a bill that would strip nonprofits of their tax exempt status if a mandated reporter within the organization is convicted of failing to report an incident of child sexual abuse.
