Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) is leading the charge in the legislature to expand health care coverage for all Californians, regardless of immigration status. His vision through Senate Bill 4, the Health for All Act, was partially realized in 2015 when he worked with Governor Jerry Brown and legislative leaders to secure the “Health for All Kids” budget which allocates $40 million to cover all undocumented kids beginning May 2016. While covering all kids in California is historic and worthy of celebration, the work toward achieving full health for all continues.
