Statement by Senator Lara in Response to Being Reappointed to the Budget Conference Committee

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León announced today​ the appointment of Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) to a third term on the influential Budget Conference Committee. In response, Senator Lara released the following statement:

"I am honored to be selected to serve a third term on the Budget Conference Committee representing my colleagues in the State Senate. My focus will be on continued fiscal responsibility, approving an on-time budget, improving educational access for working families, reviewing the Governor’s spending plan and ensuring that our most vulnerable Californians are taken care of. It is our shared responsibility to advocate for a strong budget that aims to improve the lives for all Californians. I thank the pro Tem for entrusting me again with this responsibility."


Senator Ricardo Lara was elected in 2012 to represent the 33rd Senate District, which includes the cities and communities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Lakewood, Long Beach, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, Signal Hill, South Gate, South Los Angeles, Vernon, and Walnut Park.
