Senator Lena Gonzalez Issues Statement on 2021-22 Budget Passed by Legislature and Signed by Governor Newsom

July 14, 2021
SACRAMENTO – Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) released the following statement in response to the unprecedented 2021-22 state budget signed by Governor Newsom:

“The 2021-22 State Budget will provide much needed relief to families, businesses, and individuals across the state. Through bold initiatives, such as $12 billion in direct stimulus payments for nearly two-thirds of Californians, $12 billion to address homelessness, and free universal preschool and free transitional kindergarten, this historic budget will help tackle some of the most difficult challenges we face today. I am thankful to my colleagues in the Legislature and Governor Newsom for their leadership and collaboration, and I look forward to continued conversations as we vote on further budget implementation bills later this week."
