Welcome! I’m Senator Lena Gonzalez and I represent the 33rd District. The 33rd District represents nearly 1 million residents of Los Angeles County, including Long Beach, and the Southeast Los Angeles cities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Lakewood, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, Signal Hill, South Gate, and part of Los Angeles.

I’m honored to represent the working people of the 33rd District who drive California’s economy, from the Port of Long Beach to the transportation corridor that links California to the rest of the country. The Signal Hill Park amphitheater will receive a full redesign and upgrades thanks to a $5 million check presented to City officials Tuesday morning from California State Senator Lena Gonzalez.

This key infrastructure project will support local artists and provide thousands of local residents with a community hub for art activities, cultural resources, and entertainment.

Maywood, Calif. – On October 12, 2022 Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) and Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) presented $3 million in state funds for the renovation of Maywood Riverfront Park. The funding will help transform the park to better serve local residents as a place for recreation, exercise, community gatherings, cultural events and more.

La oficina del gobernador Gavin Newsom anunció el domingo que firmó dos proyectos de ley destinados a tomar medidas enérgicas contra el robo de convertidores catalíticos.

AB 1740 del asambleísta Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) requerirá que los recicladores de convertidores catalíticos incluyan información adicional en el registro escrito, incluido el año, la marca y el modelo del vehículo del que se extrajo el convertidor catalítico y una copia del título de propiedad del vehículo del que se extrajo el convertidor catalítico.

El Gobernador de California, Gavin Newsom, firmó una nueva ley que simplificará las regulaciones a los vendedores ambulantes del estado. Entre ellas su permiso de venta.

El Proyecto de Ley 972, del cual es autora la senadora Lena González, hará más accesible los permisos a estos vendedores.

On Friday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill to modernize state code and regulations surrounding street vending. Senate Bill 972 is a landmark law designed to make it easier for vendors to sell food on streets throughout the state. Long Beach state Sen. Lena Gonzalez authored SB 972, which is a massive update to the California Retail Food Code. The bill offers a more streamlined path to acquiring a permit and prohibits criminal penalties from health departments or law enforcement.
