Senator Lena Gonzalez Issues Statement on President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
Sacramento, Calif. – Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) released the following statement in response to the passage of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal:
“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal that is now headed to the President’s desk will provide much needed investments to improve transportation infrastructure, protect the environment and advance digital equity. I am thrilled to share that the plan includes: $17 billion for port infrastructure, $7.5 billion to build out a national network of EV chargers, $89.9 billion in guaranteed funding for public transit over the next five years — the largest Federal investment in public transit in history, $66 billion in additional rail funding, $55 billion to expand access to clean drinking water, and $65 billion for broadband infrastructure deployment to help ensure that every American has access to reliable high-speed internet. I am thankful to President Biden and Congress for their leadership in securing these meaningful investments that will greatly improve the quality of life for Californians and I look forward to continued conversations on implementation as this all comes to fruition.”
