Black History Month, Grants for Students
February, the shortest month of the year is here, taking us beyond the starting line toward continued growth and boundless opportunities to embrace.
It is a time to express gratitude to those who hold a special place in our hearts on Valentine’s Day and to reflect on the leaders who have guided our nation throughout history on President’s Day. It is also Black History Month, a month dedicated to uplifting the stories of our Black community, celebrating their contributions and achievements, both past and present.
Beyond the celebrations, a key date is approaching. The last day to introduce bills at the Capitol is February 16, and with that, a sneak preview of my 2024 legislation will be coming soon, so stay tuned!
In the District, my team joined the California Faculty Association members’ strike to show solidarity with our California State University faculty workers advocating for equitable pay and improved work and learning conditions. Team Gonzalez also volunteered in the Greater Los Angeles and Long Beach Homeless Counts. Check out our recap video to see more of what we’ve been up to this month!
And for those of you who are starting your college education journey, please know that California offers grants to eligible college students. Remember to fill out the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by April 2, 2024, for grant money to help you pay for school.
