Women’s History Month, Health Bills, Tacos & Taxes
Dear Neighbor,
Happy Women’s History Month to the trailblazers, innovators, and leaders who make our community great each and every day! This year we celebrated many amazing Wonder Women from our Senate District 33 and I invite you to learn more about them and join us in thanking them for their great achievements and contributions in our community.
As my 2024 legislative package takes shape, I will continue sharing updates on what my team and I are working on. This year I introduced two health bills, one of which is Enhancing Family Planning Accessibility, aimed at expanding equitable access to vital family planning services for low-income communities. By broadening the definition of who can certify clinics to provide essential services like contraception and pregnancy testing we can create more accessible and comprehensive reproductive healthcare for everyone, especially in areas where it's needed most.
I have also proposed the Latino and Indigenous Disparities Reduction Act as part of my health bill initiatives. This act will update our state's health data to be more comprehensive and representative of our diverse communities, ensuring inclusivity and equity for all. By recognizing the challenges that Latino and Indigenous communities encounter, this legislation provides a pathway to improve their health outcomes.
Did you know your federal student loan payment could be as low as $0/month? Thanks to the new Saving on A Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan, more federal student loan borrowers may benefit from significantly decreased monthly payments. In addition, the SAVE Plan will give borrowers who originally borrowed $12,000 or less forgiveness after as few as 10 years.
