Long Beach, Calif. – On December 8, 2023, Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) presented $3.5 million in funds to support the preservation of historical sites Rancho Los Alamitos and Rancho Los Cerritos in the City of Long Beach. Senator Gonzalez advocated for the funds to be allocated as part of the 2023 fiscal year state budget. The allocation of funds will serve to address several key aspects, notably public safety concerns, accessibility improvement, and restoration of historic ranch buildings and gardens. The Ranchos are situated on lands historically inhabited by the Gabrielino-Tongva indigenous community.

Legislators Present $10 Million in Funds for the Museum of Latin American Art to Support Education, Culture, and Career Growth Opportunities Within Modern and Contemporary Latin American and Latino Art

Long Beach, Calif. – On December 6, 2023, Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) and Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) presented $10 million in funds for the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) located in Long Beach. Since its establishment in 1996, the museum has served the Greater Los Angeles area to provide unique opportunities for educators, students, families and visitors of all ages to learn about modern and contemporary Latin American and Latino art. MOLAA provides a great variety of low-cost and free events and resources, including, educational programming, their Day of the Dead festival, tours of their collection and exhibitions, workshops for children and online tools for educators.

Senator Lena Gonzalez Presents $2 Million in Funds to Help Prevent Homelessness and Bolster Reentry Services in the City of Long Beach

Long Beach, Calif. – On October 16, 2023 Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) presented $2 Million in funds during Monday Matters at MacArthur Park in the City of Long Beach, a bi-monthly resource fair where volunteers help provide food, water, clothes, and other essential supplies to unhoused neighbors. Of the funds awarded, $1.25 million will be utilized to enhance the capacity of service providers to assist individuals at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. The remaining sum of $750,000 will be directed towards enhancing the city’s Reentry Services Program.
