Senator Lena Gonzalez Issues Statement on Governor Newsom's 2023-24 State Budget Proposal

Sacramento, Calif. – Senator Lena Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) released the following statement on the 2023-24 state budget proposal released by Governor Gavin Newsom today:

"I appreciate the Governor's commitment to building a resilient budget that maintains investments in key priorities and I look forward to working together with his administration and my colleagues in the State Legislature on how we can develop a comprehensive and balanced budget that promotes California’s values and goals. As Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, I believe clean transportation equity investments are an essential component of California's climate commitment and critical to protecting the health and future of our communities. This legislative session, I plan to introduce a bill that builds off the momentum of my past legislation in collaboration with Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes, ensures we move forward on California's Clean Transportation Program and promotes a dialogue to identify sustainable funding to reduce transportation-related emissions and improve air quality for a healthier future for our families, especially those historically overburdened by pollution.”
