Food Assistance Resources

No Kid Hungry & SUN Bucks

No Kid Hungry provides resources to help families find free summer meals and grocery assistance programs to ensure children have access to nutritious food when school is out. Families can use the Summer Food Resources Hub to locate nearby meal sites, learn about Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) benefits, and connect with additional food support services. If you have an eligible child and have not yet signed up for SUN Bucks, make sure to submit an application to your child's schools by August 31. LA County Summer Lunch and Snacks Programs for Youth

This summer, children and teens across Los Angeles County can access free healthy meals and snacks through the Summer Lunch and Snacks Program. Available at parks, libraries, schools, and community centers, the program helps ensure youth ages 18 and under have access to nutritious food while school is out of session. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these no-cost meal sites to help keep children healthy, active, and ready for the new school year. CalCompetes Tax Credits

The next California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) application period closes on Monday, August 10, 2026, with $350 million in available tax credits. Businesses interested in applying can register to view a live webinar explaining the application process. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) and the online application website will automatically close once this deadline has passed. The online application can be accessed starting July 20, 2026, at www.calcompetes.ca.gov.

City of Long Beach Community Survey Ahead of 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games

Long Beach is seeking community input to help shape planning and preparations for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ensuring residents’ priorities and perspectives are reflected in the City’s vision for the Games and their lasting legacy. Long Beach encourages residents, businesses, and stakeholders to complete the LA28 community survey by Sept. 30, 2026, available in English, Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog. Path to 2028: Helping Small Businesses Prepare for Contracting Opportunities

The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) is excited to announce the launch of Path to 2028, a countywide initiative designed to ensure that small businesses, workers, and communities benefit from the economic opportunities connected to LA28. Path to 2028 will help connect businesses to the tools and information they need to be ready and help more businesses get certified, registered, contract-ready. Wildfire Prevention: One Less Spark

We Californians know that each year brings a higher risk of wildfire. But most folks may not realize that 95 percent of wildfires are caused by humans and most are preventable. It’s important for all of us to take steps to avoid creating a spark that might lead to a wildfire. Here are just a few things we all can do to create One Less Spark:

• Mow before 10am: Mowing the lawn on a hot, dry, or windy afternoon can be risky. If the mower’s blade hits a rock, it can create a spark. So, mow before 10 am and avoid mowing on really hot or windy days.
• Secure tow chains: Tow chains dragging on the road can send sparks flying into dry brush. Secure tow chains so they don’t drag on the ground while you’re driving.
• Park safely: Something as simple as parking your car on dry grass can ignite a fire. Your vehicle’s exhaust system can get hot enough to spark dry vegetation. Don’t park your car on dry grass—whether it’s by the side of the road or on your property—where the heat of the engine could start a fire.
• Use equipment safely: Even something like welding, grinding, or using power tools near dry vegetation can start a fire if done at the wrong time or without the right precautions. Together, we can minimize the risk of sparking a wildfire.
