Preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles
As Los Angeles prepares to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is helping communities stay informed and safe. Their new “Winning Starts with Staying Safe” online dashboard offers important public health resources, including heat safety tips, emergency care locations, venue maps, and guidance on food and drug safety for fans attending events across the region. City of Long Beach and LA Galaxy Host World Cup Match Viewings
This summer, Long Beach will be at the center of global soccer excitement with the LA Galaxy Soccer Celebration. This free citywide experience will take place in Downtown Long Beach from June 11 through June 27. Lincoln Park will be transformed into vibrant community hubs featuring live FIFA World Cup 26™ match viewings, youth soccer clinics, music, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The celebration will also include marquee watch parties for major international matchups, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to come together. Youth Grant Opportunity
A new youth grant opportunity is now available for young people ages 5 to 18 across Los Angeles County through the Youth Climate Commission, supporting projects that advance sustainability and environmental protection. Youth can apply for a $1,000 microgrant to bring their ideas to life, including community events or local youth-led climate initiatives. L.A. Care Grants Support Medi-Cal Enrollment Education
L.A. Care Health Plan is seeking community partners across Los Angeles County to help residents navigate major upcoming changes to Medi-Cal eligibility and renewal requirements. Through its new Health and Digital Literacy Grants, the plan is offering awards of up to $75,000 for single-site programs and up to $300,000 for multi-site efforts to deliver in-person workshops and educational support. Selected organizations will help Medi-Cal beneficiaries understand coverage changes, use tools like BenefitsCal, complete redeterminations, and access trusted resources through L.A. Care’s “Keep L.A. Covered” initiative. The 12-month grant term is expected to begin August 1, 2026, and prioritizes organizations with experience serving Medi-Cal populations in Los Angeles County. California Department of Insurance Free Webinars
The California Department of Insurance is continuing its free 2026 Consumer Learning Series, a statewide webinar program designed to help Californians better understand key insurance topics and protect their financial security. Upcoming sessions will focus on residential insurance, including property coverage, ratemaking basics, and earthquake insurance, with additional webinars on health and business insurance scheduled later this year. Residents can register for upcoming Zoom webinars that will be hosted from June 17- October 21 at the CDI Website.
