Changes to CalFresh (SNAP) Benefits
Recent federal changes have expanded work requirements for some people receiving CalFresh food benefits. In general, adults ages 18 to 64 who do not have dependent children and do not qualify for an exemption may be required to work, participate in a training program, or volunteer to continue receiving benefits. Individuals with disabilities, pregnant individuals, caregivers, and students may qualify for an exemption. CalFresh recipients should make sure their contact information is up to date with their local social services office to avoid interruptions in benefits. For assistance, call the CalFresh Benefits Helpline at 1-877-847-3663. For more information visit the California Department of Social Services H.R. 1 & CalFresh FAQ page.
