The holidays are here, and before we turn the page on 2023, my team and I would like to extend our personal thanks to you—for showing up, to help us make a positive difference in our community. Eight bills I authored this year were signed into law by the Governor! Much of this success is due to the input received from local residents like yourself. Thank you for actively participating in the legislative process through your calls, emails, and letters to help shape policies for both the District and the state.
After an incredible week of intense debate in the Capitol chambers, final presentations in committee hearings, engaging meetings with community members, and a flurry of inquiries from the press on my bills’ developments, we’ve now reached the end of California’s 2023 legislative session.
Last Friday was the end of the 2021 legislative session and I am thrilled to share that seven of my bills have been sent to the Governor’s desk!
It’s Pride Month, and we are celebrating all the wonderful accomplishments, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community in Senate District 33!
Last week was a suspenseful one, as I waited to learn which bills in my 2021 legislative packet passed Appropriations. I am happy to share that seven of my bills passed the committee and are advancing in the legislative process in addition to one other non-fiscal bill.
I also had the pleasure of speaking with local teachers and migrant families in Long Beach to provide legislative updates and discuss important matters such as school re-openings and proposed legislation to help our diverse immigrant communities in the state.
Last week I visited Maywood’s Riverfront Park and Central Long Beach’s MacArthur Park to celebrate the allocation of funds from the 2021-22 state budget that will help improve our parks, provide upward mobility and economic opportunities for individuals and more access to health services in our district.
