I’d like to start by extending my personal thanks to all the veterans in Senate District 33 who served our nation with courage, dignity, and honor.

As we hit one month of the federal government shutdown, more and more people in Senate District 33 are feeling the impacts.

Over the past few weeks, my team and I have been out in the community across Senate District 33 connecting with residents, small businesses, and local leaders to share legislative updates and discuss how state policies are shaping our neighborhoods.

As you may know, we are in a federal government shutdown that started last Wednesday at midnight. Every year Congress must pass bills that fund federal government agencies that provide critical services for Americans, as of this time, Congress has not reached a deal to approve new funding.  

To help address questions or concerns you may have, my office has compiled some information below. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. 

As Senate Majority Leader and Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, I was honored to help advance policies this year that protect families, strengthen safety, and uphold justice for all Californians.

The legislative session has come to a close, and I’m proud to highlight some of the key accomplishments we achieved.

As summer comes to a close and students head back to school, our work in the District continues.
