Dear Neighbor, 

As we begin 2026, thank you for your continued engagement and partnership in strengthening our communities. This has been a difficult time as we mourn lives lost and families harmed by ongoing federal actions, including the tragic shooting of Renee Nicole Good. I stand in solidarity with all our communities during this time.

As we celebrate the holidays and welcome the new year, I want to thank everyone who calls Senate District 33 home—our families, workers, small businesses, community leaders, teachers, first responders, nonprofits, and neighbors of all ages—for your contributions every day to making our community a thriving place to live and work.

As 2025 comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together and the important work that still lies ahead.

This year brought real challenges, yet across our district and throughout California, we saw resilience, courage, and community power rise to meet the moment. We stayed focused on uplifting our communities through Know Your Rights outreach, wildfire recovery efforts, food drives, Cash for College workshops, Tacos & Taxes, neighborhood and Earth Day cleanups, and sharing resources when families needed it most.

Sending you our warmest wishes during this season of gratitude. It is truly an honor to represent the diverse communities of Senate District 33, and our office is deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us to serve you throughout the year.

I’d like to start by extending my personal thanks to all the veterans in Senate District 33 who served our nation with courage, dignity, and honor.

As we hit one month of the federal government shutdown, more and more people in Senate District 33 are feeling the impacts.

Over the past few weeks, my team and I have been out in the community across Senate District 33 connecting with residents, small businesses, and local leaders to share legislative updates and discuss how state policies are shaping our neighborhoods.

As you may know, we are in a federal government shutdown that started last Wednesday at midnight. Every year Congress must pass bills that fund federal government agencies that provide critical services for Americans, as of this time, Congress has not reached a deal to approve new funding.  

To help address questions or concerns you may have, my office has compiled some information below. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available. 

As Senate Majority Leader and Chair of the California Latino Legislative Caucus, I was honored to help advance policies this year that protect families, strengthen safety, and uphold justice for all Californians.

The legislative session has come to a close, and I’m proud to highlight some of the key accomplishments we achieved.
