Tele-Town Hall on Federal CARES Act and Unemployment Benefits

Thursday, May 14, 2020 - 7:15pm

Dear Community Partners and Friends,

I am writing to invite you to participate in a telephone Town Hall to hear the latest updates on Coronavirus/COVID-19 and the resources available to you. This discussion will focus on the federal relief package (CARES Act) and unemployment benefits. In addition, I will continue to host COVID-19 related telephone Town Halls on various subjects in an effort to provide our community with accurate information and to address your questions and concerns.

I will be hosting this event on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

To listen in on Friday's toll-free call, please dial 844-291-4185. The Access Code is 1715424.

To RSVP for this event, please click here.

Congressman Alan Lowenthal, representing California’s 47th Congressional District, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, representing California’s 70th Assembly District, and Legal Aid at Work will join me on the call.

Due to the volume of callers we are expecting, live questions will not be possible. Please submit any questions you may have to senator.gonzalez@sen.ca.gov.

Please feel free to submit questions whether or not you intend to participate. A recording of the Town Hall will be available at my website.

Congressman Alan Lowenthal and his Legislative Director Chris Gorud will join me to discuss the CARES Act and provide details on federal emergency relief.

Jenna Gerry and George Warner with Legal Aid at Work will cover unemployment insurance, state disability insurance, paid family leave, paid sick days, and the related federal provisions.

Together with Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell, we will explain steps state and federal officials are taking to protect our community and available resources that can be leveraged during this time. We will also answer e-mailed questions from the public.

Thank you and Stay Well,

Lena
State Senator, District 33
